About Interac Payments

Overview

Interac e-Transfer is Canada’s most widely used way to send and receive money, letting customers pay directly from their own bank account using just an email address or phone number — no card numbers or bank credentials are ever shared with the merchant. With Coinflow’s Interac integration, Canadian customers complete a purchase by receiving an e-Transfer request and depositing it from their own online banking app.

Upon a successful payment, merchants receive USDC to their configured settlement location.

How It Works

1. Merchant defines their revenue settlement location.
2. Customer provides their first name, last name, and either an email address or phone number linked to their Interac account — or selects a previously saved Interac contact.
3. Merchant calls the Interac Checkout endpoint. Coinflow sends an Interac e-Transfer request to the customer’s email or phone.
4. Customer receives a notification from their bank and deposits the e-Transfer from their online banking app.
5. Coinflow receives the funds and settles USDC to the merchant’s settlement location.
6. Merchant listens for Settled webhook events to confirm payment completion.

New Contact vs. Saved Contact Checkout

Coinflow supports two ways to initiate an Interac payin:

• New Contact Checkout — used the first time a customer pays with Interac, or when they want to send the e-Transfer request to a different email or phone number. Coinflow automatically saves this contact to the customer’s record for future use.
• Saved Contact Checkout — used for returning customers. The previously saved Interac contact’s token is passed instead of collecting the customer’s name, email, and phone again.
