# SEPA (Europe)

## SEPA Payouts

SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) enables instant and standard payouts to Euro-denominated IBAN accounts across Europe.

### Implementation

When initiating a payout, pass `speed = "iban"` to use SEPA.

### Requirements

* User must have a linked IBAN account
* **IBAN must be from a supported SEPA country** (determined by the first 2 letters of the IBAN)
* Account must be Euro-denominated

> **IBAN Country Code Matters**
>
> Payout eligibility is determined by the **IBAN's country code** (first 2 letters), **NOT** the user's KYC or nationality. The linked bank account must be **Euro-denominated**, even for countries that do not use EUR as their national currency.

> The BIC number is not required for account setup unless it cannot be determined by the system.
> The endpoint will respond with a 426 status code, if the field is required.

### Supported IBAN Country Codes

**Eurozone Countries:** AT, BE, CY, DE, EE, ES, FI, FR, GR, HR, IE, IT, LT, LU, LV, MT, NL, PT, SI, SK, and EUR territories (AD, MC, SM, VA, etc.)

**Additional SEPA Countries:** CZ, DK, HU, PL, RO, SE, IS, NO, LI, CH, GG, JE, IM, GI

> Users in non-Eurozone SEPA countries must link a **Euro-denominated** IBAN account. Local currency accounts (e.g., Danish Krone, Swedish Krona) are not supported.

**Not Supported:** BG (Bulgaria)

### Settlement Time

Typically instant via SEPA Instant, standard SEPA may take 1-2 business days
